City of Blackduck issued the following announcement on Oct. 17.
The City of Blackduck awarded COVID-19 CARES Act relief grants to three small businesses for the first round of their Business Assistance Program. The announcement was made during a meeting held on Thursday, October 15,2020. The businesses received the grants for operating expenses, inventory, lease and mortgage payments.
On June 25, 2020, Gov. Tim Walz used executive powers to distribute $841.5 million of CARES Act funds to counties, cities, and townships throughout the State of Minnesota. The City of Blackduck used their funds to launch a small business recovery program to assist small business adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To be eligible, businesses must be located in city limits and meet certain criteria to receive assistance of up to $5,000 to support recovery efforts.
The City of Blackduck also announced that second round of the Business Assistance Program is now open. Businesses are strongly encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate direct or adverse impact due to COVID-19.
The deadline to apply is Friday, October 30, 2020 by noon.
