CITY OF WADENA: City Council Will Meet To Consider Resolution No. 2020-13

Meetingschl

City of Wadena issued the following announcement on Jan. 29.

On Wednesday, January 29, at 4:30 pm, the Wadena City Council will meet to consider Resolution No. 2020-13. The title of the resolution is: A Resolution of the Wadena City Council Supporting the Authority to Impose a Local Sales Tax to Fund a Specific Capital Improvement Project Providing Regional Benefit, to Establish the Duration of the Tax and the Revenue to be Raised by the Tax, and to Authorize the City to Issue Bonds Supported by the Sales Tax Revenue

Adoption of the resolution begins a multi-step process to enact a local sales tax. The tax, if enacted by the voters, will be used to generate funds for the new Library project.

The first step is adoption of the resolution. The second step is approval by the State Legislature to place the question on the 2020 City of Wadena ballot. City of Wadena voters will vote on the matter during the November 2020 election. If the voters approve it, the local sales tax will be enacted. If the voters do not approve it, the local sales tax will not be enacted.

The meeting is open to the public and begins at 4:30 pm. You may pick up a copy of the resolution at the City Admin Building during regular business hours.
