City of Park Rapids issued the following announcement on Jan. 29.
Unfortunately unsafe ice conditions will not allow the derby to take place this year.
All other derby event activities will take place including; Friday Fish Fry, Saturday morning SAL breakfast, Ladies Auxiliary Lunch and a Saturday evening dance !
The first Saturday in February always promises to be a great day on the ice for the American Legion Community Fishing Derby on Fish Hook Lake. Thousands of fishing enthusiasts enjoy great food, dancing and an awards presentation for a weekend of fun! The derby offers one of the largest purses in Minnesota with over $150,000 in cash and prizes.
