City of Clearbrook issued the following announcement on Oct.3.
History Center in Shevlin resumes Children’s “Historikids” programs on October 12.
On the second Saturday of each month, the history center in Shevlin will host a one-hour “HistoriKids” program. Each month beginning in October, outreach coordinator Greg Powell will lead a discussion and craft project that tells the story of the people and history of Clearwater County. Each program will be appropriate for ages 6-11 and their parents.
The first program will be Saturday October 12 and will be an Interactive Music Program For Parents And Their Children, in honor of World Music Day. What kid doesn’t like listening to or making music? Well here’s your opportunity! From 10 – 11am Powell will give a short presentation on the ethnic music of our early pioneers and the instruments they played. Afterwards the children and parents will have a choice of making a number of different instruments that they can take home. Most supplies will be provided by the history center. If your child desires to make 2 bongos or a drum please bring one short Pringles can and/ or one small coffee can per drum.
A donation of $2.00 per child is requested to help pay for materials. The program will be in the meeting room of the History Center, so come in the north gate. For more information call Greg at 218-785-2000.
