Headwaters Music & Arts co-hosts an album release concert with the musical duo, Augmeanted. As a band, Augmeanted invites listeners closer to the transcendent power of living music with their distinctive classical rock vibe, crafting tales and tunes cut free by the saw waves of their sound.
Augmeanted’s debut album takes its name from the Anais Nin quote, “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection.” The 10-track recording, produced at Bemidji’s Supple Studios, is a mix of vocally-driven meditations on the moments that leave us speechless, and violin-driven improvisations that say what’s impossible to say. When Geoffrey Taylor spiderwalks his 5-string fiddle+ and his cousin Mary Overlie sings through her heart and keys, listeners might find themselves feathered by the wings of the crescent moonrise, embraced by the concert hall’s symphonic swirl, or rib-tickled by Appalachian fireflies.
Though Augmeanted is a new musical collaboration for these cousins, both Geoffrey and Mary are established musicians. Geoffrey is a professional violinist in Missoula, Montana (geoffreypaultaylor.com). Mary is the creative spark for Bemidji’s Mudsong (mudsong.net).
