Laporte Public School District secures third spot in student Math test participation in 2021-22 school year

Laporte Public School District ranked third in the Hubbard County for test participation, with 166 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Laporte Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 9.2% over the previous year.

Laporte Public School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 22% in 2021-22 school year.

Third grade students stood out with 12% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, 11th-grade students had the most room for improvement, with 83% not meeting the expected standards.

Laporte Public School District encompasses schools within Hubbard County and has a main office in Laporte.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
