Wadena-Deer Creek School District students performance on MCA and MTAS in 2021-22 school year?

Wadena-Deer Creek School District ranked first in the Wadena County for test participation, with 527 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Wadena-Deer Creek School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 5% over the previous year.

Wadena-Deer Creek School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 33% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 10% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, seventh grade students had the most room for improvement, with 51% not meeting the expected standards.

Wadena-Deer Creek School District encompasses schools within Wadena County and has a main office in Wadena.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
