TLC Foundation Mardi Gras fundraiser to be held March 4

The Tammy Lynn Clark (TLC) Foundation is planning a Mardi Gras Benefit Auction and Cajun boil dinner. The event is planned for Saturday, March 4, at the Orofino VFW Building, 330 Michigan Avenue, with doors opening at 3:30 p.m. There will be a social hour, live music, silent and live auction, games and a Cajun boil dinner.

Gerald Hosley had retired from the Dworshak Dam last April when he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He had surgery to remove the mass. He underwent 12 rounds of chemo. His wife Nancy was diagnosed with lung disease on Thanksgiving. Following a biopsy Nancy developed a major infection, causing her lung to collapse, and she went septic. Chest tubes were placed and she spent two days in ICU, with a seven-day total hospital stay. Nancy endured two more hospitalizations with continued complications of her collapsed lung. She spent 14 days total in the hospital, and was in and out of the hospital the whole month of December. Nancy has not worked since Thanksgiving.

According to the Hosley’s son, Gerald Jr., “Not once during all of this did my parents stop caring for others. Nancy tried to continue to work as long as she could at A Compassionate Care ensuring to continue to provide care for those in need in their own home. Between the two of them they continued to care for my late sister Ashley Hosley’s children. Both of the kids live with them.”

Through all of this the Hosleys have wanted to continue to pay it forward. They have partnered with the TLC Foundation to continue to raise money for those who are suffering from cancer and other illnesses. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be used for medical expenses for Gerald and Nancy as well as being donated to the TLC Foundation so they can continue to help other local families in need.

The TLC Foundation has spent several years helping people who have cancer, providing them with gift baskets, money for transportation, medical expenses, gas card/vouchers and hotel stays for family members. The Foundation also providing underprivileged kids with wrist bands to the annual Clearwater County Lumberjack Days, pays for sport activities dues, and providing funds for special projects for those in need, such as painting homes, providing and gathering wood and yard cleanups. The list goes on what the TLC Foundation does for those in need in the community.

Live music during the social hour at the March 4 event will be performed by local musicians Ian Graham and Tyson Crawford. The dinner that will be served will include a Cajun shrimp boil, potatoes, sausage and corn. For those who can’t eat shellfish there will be Cajun pork loin bites, dirty rice, coleslaw and homemade cobbler. Sweet tea, coffee and lemonade will be provided as well as a no-host bar provided by the VFW.

Ticket price for the event is $30 each. For tickets contact Gerald Hosley Jr. through Venmo at Gerald-Hosley; Paypal at GeraldHosleyJr; Facebook Pay at Gerald Hosley Jr.; or e-mail him at geraldhosleyjr@gmail.com. You can also call 208-503-2759 for tickets.
