Bemidji State University’s Dr. John Perlich, associate professor of communication studies, has been elected to the National Communication Association’s Faculty Advisory Board.
“Faculty Advisory Board members act as mentors for other faculty advisors and adjudicate and administer policy,” Perlich said. “Being elected as a Faculty Advisory Board member means that other people in my discipline trust me to fulfill the duties for Lambda Pi Eta.”
Lambda Pi Eta is the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year universities. Alpha Zeta Chi, BSU’s official Lambda Pi Eta chapter, was recently named Rookie Chapter of the Year.
He was elected Nov. 19 at the NCA Annual Convention in New Orleans. Members serve three-year terms and are expected to review student research projects, vote on awards, facilitate organizational development and make national programming decisions. Perlich is one of only five faculty members in the nation currently on the board.
“We’ve only had the communication major at Bemidji State for about eight months and our student groups are brand new,” he said. “The opportunities provided by a group like this are incredible. I am honored to continue my role as someone who is dedicated to the development of students.”
