In his latest book and exhibition at Watermark Art Center, photographer R. J. Kern focused his lens on his adopted home state of Minnesota. He revisits the 4-H members and their animals first photographed in 2016 – specifically those that didn’t take home a Grand Champion ribbon. The results are a series of poignant, thought-provoking images featured in a new book and exhibition, entitled, “The Unchosen Ones: Portraits of an American Pastoral.”
